I had an ultrasound of my liver today. Haven’t heard the results yet. Waiting, waiting, waiting…
My Dr. sent me this today. Does anyone know about any of these drugs or have any input?
Chemotherapy drugs I will be receiving:
Adriamycin(doxorubicin) with Cyclophosphamide(Cytoxan) for four cycles.
Neupogen infections subcutanously after each chemo for 10 days.
Then Taxol(Paclitaxel) with Herceptin weekly for twelve weeks.
Then surgery
Then complition of Herceptin for total of 52 weeks.

Hi there! I also had a very similar chemo plan AC x 4 plus Taxol x 12. I am having my 4th taxol tomorrow. The american cancer society has a publication of the treatment options for different types of breast cancer that I found very helpful.

Good luck to you and I will be sending you good vibes! It sure is scary when you start learning about all this stuff, but there is a lot of information out there. HUGS! Karin
Hi, Sonia!
I have been thinking about you a lot. So, you have not yet received the result for Ultrasound. That’s so frustrating, isn’t it? I really hope you’ll get the good news soon.
I am still new to the info on Chemo drugs too, but I believe they have different combos/cocktails (e.g. TAC, AC, TC, CMF, etc) according to what’s best. It sounds like you will be on TAC cocktail? I am not sure mine is, maybe TC since I will be taking Taxotere and Carboplatin. I will be also taking Herceptin. I think this drug works with cancer like ours, Hers2+.
Thank you for your support for my arm port placement tomorrow. I hope it won’t hurt :(
Hugs,
Yuyu
Anxiously waiting for your results also…
I wish I could help give you information on the chemo drugs… I also took ACT with neulasta shots a day after each session. I was just talking about the newest chemo combination for HER2+ patients with a girlfriend in my neighborhood who sells chemotherapy drugs to local hospitals. She said there’s a new and promising “cocktail” some doctors are using for patients who are HER2+ and I believe it’s the one YuYu mentioned? Maybe ask your doctor to tell you the differences between the two? He would obviously know what’s best. I also find a lot of good information on oncology websites which usually document the latest research and newest treatments.
I hope you get your results soon! Saying a prayer for you.
The waiting is wretched! I am keeping you in prayer. Soon you will have your results and you will get busy surviving and thriving and realizing just how amazing and powerful and capable you are.
In the meantime, I am sitting here blogging you wonderful thoughts and love…with a full cup of milk, and NO COOKIES…I am not one to complain. I just thought I would mention it.
Be well
Be blesses
and
Be baking

Sonia,
The drugs you are receiving are very common. They are the same drugs used for Betty Ford. The new additions are Neulasta (keeps your immune system strong & white blood counts up) and Taxotere. The Taxotere is targeted for your lymphatic system. I almost bypassed chemotherapy and went alternative but I had the same regimen of chemotherapy you are prescribed.
I had chemotherapy before surgery and if it gives you any comfort, I had a 6cm tumor with lymph node involvement. By the time I finished chemotherapy the tumor was gone and my pathology after surgery was clear. Basically, the chemotherapy worked. Also, the anti-nausea medicine frequently prescribed is called Kytril.
